Welcome to the Gateway City! The St. Louis metro area is home to almost 3 million residents, and it’s no wonder why. With so much to see and do in this city, it’s impossible to ever feel bored. Well over a dozen Fortune 500 companies such as Anheuser-Busch, Emerson Electric, Graybar Energy, and more are headquartered in St. Louis. DaimlerChrysler and General Motors also provide manufacturing jobs in the area, and Boeing manufactures several aircrafts and combat air vehicles in the city.
St. Louis is also known for its lower than average housing prices. According to Sperling’s Best Places, the median home cost hovers around $150,000, much less than the US average of over $215,000. However, over 44% of residents are renters, so apartments and rental houses are available in all price ranges from very affordable to high end. Even food and utility costs are lower than the national average in St. Louis.

St. Louis Arts and Culture
St. Louis might as well be known as the “Music City” with legends like Chuck Berry, Tina Turner, Ike Turner, and Miles Davis starting their careers in the area. Ragtime, Jazz, and the blues often come to mind when thinking about the St. Louis music scene. A sports team, the St. Louis Blues, is even named after the music of this great city. Popular modern artists like Nelly and Sheryl Crow in addition to many others call St. Louis home as well.
